As you can see below, not only will Max Rodriguez of QBR’s Harlem Book Fair and Shirley Jenkins of Solid Gold Travel work out the Harlem Book Fair in Bermuda conflict (that you read on my blog dated June 2007 as a comment on my “Caribbean Heritage Panel” post), but the WBAI “Off the Page” show’s host, Esther Armah, is opening up her email for folk to write in and sound off. I received many responses to that comment about Solid Gold’s public indictment of Max, but none of the folk who contacted me wanted their comments posted for all the world to read. We’ll hear who emails Esther and what they have to say on her December 27th live radio show.
I’m sure you haven’t forgotten the tone of the comment, but you might have forgotten some of the content. To make this easier, and since there has been such a large response to the open letter, I’m posting the comment Solid Gold Travel sent to me below.
Thanks, Linda Duggins, for sending this Esther Armah WBAI radio announcement to me:
This email is to inform you, your contacts and the book loving, book reading, book buying community of the following.

This is the link to meet the staff of Solid Gold Travel, and, just below, here’s the original Solid Gold Travel comment. Just to make sure everyone’s clear, I received this comment on December 11th, and it was posted on a June 2007 blog entry called “Caribbean Heritage Panel”:
STOP HARLEM BOOK FAIR CONMAN
Max Rodriguez of the Harlem Book Fair is a professional conman. Solid Gold Travel has had the unfortunate experience of being conned by him recently, leaving a huge debt and responsibility.
In early 2007, Mr. Rodriguez entered an agreement with the Bermuda Department of Tourism and Solid Gold Travel to sponsor a Cruise to Bermuda for August of 2008. When the time came for Mr. Rodriguez to pay his agreed upon deposit for the Cruise, he submitted 2 consecutive bad checks. After his second check bounced, we reached out to Mr. Rodriguez via phone and email to no response whatsoever. Now, after several months and several attempts to reach him, Mr. Rodriguez will not respond.
In recent conversations, we have found that Mr. Rodriguez has defrauded numerous other businesses and minority organizations.
As minority business owners for over 20 years, we understand the importance and value of the Black Business responsibility and reputation. Max Rodriguez has built a career out of scamming our community and should be held responsible for his actions.
If you or someone you know has been tricked, conned or ripped off by Max Rodriguez of the Harlem Book Fair, we invite you to share your story or contact us at solidbash@aol.com.
