$10,000 Award for African American Fiction

Thanks to Elizabeth Nunez and Tina McElroy Ansa for sending me this info:

The Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence was inaugurated last year to honor works of African-American fiction. The award carries a $10,000 prize and quite a bit of attention — two things writers dearly need and deserve.

Works of fiction published in 2007 are eligible.

I am pleased to be on the jury for the award and a champion of our fine literature. So, I wanted to make as many writers who qualify aware of the award and of the approaching deadline of April 30, 2008 for this year’s award.

You can find all the particulars of the award at the following website:

Please, help get the word out.

Love and peace,
Tina
