Professor Joyce Toney, former chair of both the Africana and the Women’s Studies Departments at Hunter, hosted a book party for me in her beautiful Brooklyn home last night. Khisekh Salaam from Hue Man Books came all the way from Harlem to sell copies of Crystelle Mourning. It was great to see fellow faculty and administrators from Hunter and other CUNY schools, but – really – it was absolutely amazing to see students and former students who made the trek deep into Brooklyn.
Georgina, LuShan, Alina, and Jannell – thank you for making my night by coming out to soiree in the BK. 🙂
And a special thank you to Joel Toney, city council candidate, for the amazing stuffed fish!
